15 iPhone Apps That'll Be Great iPad Apps, Just as They Are

When the iPad is available initially, there won't be a whole lot of apps specially designed for its larger screen. But, that's okay. There are thousands of apps that will run on an iPad. Here are fifteen iPhone apps we believe will perform beautifully on an iPad. They're great apps on the iPhone and iPod touch. We think they'll be stand-out favorites on the iPad, too.

Productivity Apps

2Do
The iPad, like the iPhone, doesn't have a native to do list app. 2Do has an excellent user interface and great features that will shine on the iPad.

Awesome Note
While the native Notes app on the iPad is improved over its iPhone sibling, it still doesn't hold a candle to Awesome Note for design, usability and features. (Read our review of Awesome Note.)

Textfree Unlimited
On the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you'll still be able to use Textfree Unlimited to send texts at a fraction of what AT&T charges.

Sports and News

ESPN ScoreCenter
On the smaller screen of an iPhone or the larger screen of an iPad, ESPN ScoreCenter will be just as capable of providing live scores and fast-breaking sporting news.

CNN Mobile
We're sure this app will get an iPad makeover. Until then, the amount of news coverage (with streaming video content) - internationally, nationally and locally - along with it's personalizable news-following features make CNN Mobile a step-above other news apps.

Games

Doodle Jump
An insanely addictive (and cleverly updated) game of springy, jumping joy, Doodle Jump will still be just as much fun to play tilting an iPad.

Bejeweled 2
While Bejeweled 2 has a history of being on the smaller screens of phones and PDAs, it's brightly-colored jewels and eye-pleasing effects will be glorious on an iPad.

Monopoly
The classic Monopoly board game so nicely translated for the iPhone and iPod touch gets closer to being board game-sized on the iPad.

Plants vs. Zombies
In Plants vs. Zombies, battling waves of zombies with your chlorophyll defense force will have your fingers really moving on the iPad.

Entertainment

Pocket God
Playing Pocket God on an iPad may be a lot like playing with an interactive cartoon picture book. Tossing pygmies into volcanos, battling giant spiders and dinosaurs, and dropping coconuts (and other objects) onto the pygmies' heads will be grander and just as much fun on the iPad.

Classics
Sure, you'll be able to get books from the iBook store. Still, you will enjoy the wonderful collection of literary masterpieces and the way they are so delightfully presented in the Classics iPhone app.

Comics
A WoowooMac favorite, the Comics app's almost cinematic way of presenting comics, panel-by-panel or full-page, will be even bolder and more satisfying on an iPad. (Read our review of Comics.)

iQuarium
While we hope to see an iPad version of iQuarium, we look forward to being pleasantly mesmerized by this virtual fish tank on the iPad big screen.

Music

Pandora
For all the reasons you love Pandora on the iPhone and iPod touch, you'll want to have it on an iPad, too.

Drum Kit
On the iPhone, tapping the little drums on the little screen is quite fun. However, the idea of being able to place an iPad in your lap, launching Drum Kit, and tapping away (more like a "real" drummer would) is something we just can't wait to try!
