Connect an iPhone to a TV to Play Videos and Movies

Watching movies on an iPhone is great for on-the-go entertainment. You can also connect an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to a TV to watch a video on a larger screen.

You need a special cable to connect your iPhone to a TV. Apple offers one: the Apple Component AV Cable. Griffin Technologies makes one, too: the Griffin Component Video Cable for iPod.

Both work essentially the same way allowing you to plug one end of the cable into the iPod connector on an iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) and the other end to the RCA connectors and audio inputs on a TV.

These cables also have a USB connector that let's you plug into a power source (power adapter or Mac) so that your iPhone charges while it is connected.

Once you have the iPhone connected to a TV, launch the iPod app (the Videos app on iPad and iPod touch). Choose the Movie or TV Show you want to play. Then, sit back, relax and enjoy videos and movies from your iPhone on a large(r) screen.

You can also play video podcasts and show photo slideshows (using the Photos app).
