Control iPhone Using Apple Earphones With Remote And Mic

The iPhone 3GS comes with earphones that have a built-in microphone and remote. You can use the earphones and mic to make and take calls - hands-free. Plus, you can control the iPhone with the remote.

When your phone is in your pocket or backpack, the remote is really handy. Use the remote to do things such as pause music, skip to the next song, rewind a movie, and answer a call - all without touching your iPhone.

Here's a list of things you can do with the remote on the iPhone 3GS earphones.

iPod Controls

• Play or pause a song or video - Squeeze the center button once
• Skip to the next song or next chapter in a video - Squeeze the center button twice quickly
• Go to the previous song or chapter - Squeeze the center button three times quickly
• Fast-forward through a song or video - Squeeze the center button twice quickly and hold. Release the button to continue playing at regular speed.
• Rewind - Squeeze the center button three times quickly and hold. Release the button to continue playing (forward) at regular speed.
• Increase the volume - Squeeze the "+" button
• Decrease the volume - Squeeze the "-" button

Phone Controls

• Answer a call - Press the center button once.
• Decline an incoming call (and send it to voicemail) - Squeeze the center button for about two seconds and let go.
• End a call - Squeeze the center button once to end a call.
• Switch to an incoming call and put the current call on hold - Squeeze the center button once.
• Switch to an incoming call and end the current call - Squeeze the center button for about two seconds and let go.
• Increase the volume - Squeeze the "+" button
• Decrease the volume - Squeeze the "-" button

Nice one, i couldn't remember how to skip songs and now I can go back to good iPod control :)
