Genius Mixes - A Great Way to Rediscover Music in Your iTunes Library

The Genius Mixes feature in iTunes 9 looks through your music library, finds songs that go well together, and organizes them into "mixes" (genre-based playlists, basically). Up to twelve mixes are created and named for the music in the mix, for example: Country, New Wave, Children's, Easy Listening, Jazz, Classic Rock, Gospel, Funk, Pacific and Pop.

Genius Mixes are easy to create.
First, in iTunes, make sure to Turn On Genius (in the Store menu). Next, click Genius Mixes in the Genius section (in the left column). A grid of images (the mixes) are displayed. Click one to start playing the mix.

An bug in iTunes sometimes prevents mixes from being created. If this happens to you, choose Update Genius from the Store menu. You can use Update Genius anytime to refresh songs in the mixes.

Sync Genius Mixes to your iPhone or iPod
Connect your iPhone or iPod to your Mac. Then, click the Music tab. You'll see a list of playlists, including Genius Mixes. Select mixes you would like synced.

On iPhone and iPod touch, it takes a few taps to access Genius Mixes. Open the iPod app. Then, tap More. And finally, tap Genius Mixes. Swipe right to see the mixes you've synced.

Genius Mixes will likely contain music you haven't listened to in a while and songs you haven't listened to at all. So, crank up some mixes and enjoy listening to recent, rediscovered and new-found favorites.

Note: Genius Mixes require an iTunes account and access to the internet. Genius Mixes are supported on iPhone and iPod touch running 3.1 software or later, iPod Classic (Late 2009) running firmware 2.0.3 or later, and iPod nano (5th generation).
