How To Change iPhone Alert Sound

Whenever you receive a text message, voicemail, email or app notification, iPhone alerts you to it with a sound. The iPhone comes with a number of alert sounds to choose from: Tri-tone, Chime, Glass, Horn, Bell and Electronic.

To choose an alert sound, open Settings. Tap Sounds. Then, tap New Text Message. You'll see a list of sounds. You can tap each sound to hear it. Once you've decided, tap the sound you want to use, then tap the Home button to close Settings.

By the way, if you'd rather not have a sound play at all, choose None in the sound list.
