iPhone Travel Apps to Have When You're Hungry

When you're on vacation or on a business trip, you'll inevitably ask yourself two questions: "Where can I eat?" and "How do I get there?" Here are a few iPhone apps that can help answer these hunger-induced questions.

Maps
AroundMeiPhone Maps AppFirst up, the Maps app available on every iPhone. In addition to drawing a map of the area around you, you can search for the kind of food you're craving. Pins will mark restaurant locations on the map. And, the Maps app can provide a set of directions to get you there - whether you are driving, walking, or taking public transportation.

AroundMe, Yelp, and Urbanspoon use the Maps app to provide directions and map locations.

AroundMe
Using your current location, AroundMe will tell you what's nearby: restaurants, banks, ATMs, bars, coffee places, gas stations, movie theaters, hotels, supermarkets and more.

Yelp
UrbanspoonYelpThe venerable community-driven restaurant review web site is available to you via an iPhone app. Read thru people's comments to choose a restaurant of your liking. In addition to restaurants, Yelp also lists other businesses around your location, but not as extensively as AroundMe.

Urbanspoon
If you're the adventurous type, shake your iPhone and Urbanspoon randomly picks a restaurant. You can also lock-in a location, cuisine, or price-range and Urbanspoon will do its best to find a restaurant for you.

AroundMe, Yelp, and Urbanspoon are all served-up, free, from the iPhone App Store. Don't leave home without them!

Hi There,

I travel around the World at least once month from Wellington, New Zealand and am constantly prone to delayed or cancelled flights and my business contacts and family are constantly trying to understand when I am landing so that they can reach me.

I have therefore created an iPhone application that gives live departures and arrivals information for any flights at any given airport around the World. You can find an overview of the application at http://www.3dot5.net/blog/world-flights/ .

There is also a draw to win an ipad everytime a milestone of 10,000 download is reached on the AppStore, more information can be found on: http://www.3dot5.net/blog/win-an-ipad-with-world-flights/

Cheers,

Patrice
