Catch your favorite morning show crew, listen to a playoff game and stay informed with news-talk radio wherever you go, without carrying a radio with you. Here are five free iPhone apps that let you listen to favorite local radio stations (and remote ones, too).
AOL Radio
Listen to more than 150 radio stations across the U.S., plus stations dedicated to many genres of music, including: jazz, rock, pop, Christian and many others. AOL Radio works over Wi-Fi, 3G and EDGE. And, depending on the performance of the network, you can hear music with quality close to that of music you might purchase from the iTunes Music Store.
iheartradio
The iheartradio app for iPhone also offers radio stations from all over the country, but it has a different set of stations compared to AOL Radio, making it a good radio app to have alongside, too.
Yahoo! Music's Ecletic Music Genres

With a huge list of music genres, Y! Music app for iPhone can satisfy your music cravings no matter what genre you're in the mood for at the moment. Their list of genres is so expansive that it includes novel (and interesting) genres such as "Video Games" (music by artists that appear in video games), "The Coffeehouse" (Its like you're in a Starbucks.), and "Sweaty Indie Dance Party" (yes, sweaty). Y! Music also let's you listen to radio stations from all over the U.S.
Public Radio Player
Enjoy public radio programming from station all over the United States - about 500 of them! Plus, listen to on-demand programs. Public Radio Player has an alarm clock the let's you wake up to your favorite station or program. And, it has sleep timer that outs your iPhone to sleep after a while (should you wish to fall asleep while listening).
C-SPAN Radio
Fans of C-SPAN can watch-dog Washington wherever they go. Listen to congressional hearings and speeches from national and world leaders on C-SPAN Radio, C-SPAN and C-SPAN2. Plus, hear audio podcasts of some of their regularly scheduled programs on-demand.
Sirius XM Radio
While not exactly free (you need to have a Sirius or XM satellite radio subscription), it's worth mentioning this app. If you are a subscriber, Sirius XM programming is always available to you, right on your iPhone.

Cool free apps, especially sirius xm. I wonder which channels can I have on mine? Well, I think all sirius channels are cool, so it doesn't matter if I pay for it. I get to enjoy the music.
