Slow-Motion Video Playback on iPhone
The video player on the iPhone and iPod touch has a hidden feature that lets you view video in slow-motion. It slows-down the audio, too.
First, pause a video or movie just before the portion you'd like to view. Then, hold down the fast-forward control. The video will play in slow-motion as long as you hold-down the fast-forward control.
Use slow-motion to:
- See more detail in a fast moving movie trailer
- Watch an extra funny segment in a YouTube video in slow-mo
- Review a video tutorial slowly to catch all the steps
- Replay fast-moving dialog in a movie to really hear what they're saying
- Slow-seek through a video podcast segment for a piece of information

Thanks! =) this is really helpful. I received an mp4 attachment with an email on ipad and am playing it with goodreader,, there doesn't seem to be an option for me to play in the built in video app,, but anyway this tip works for goodreader too =)
Hide the scroll bar while slow motion viewing:
1. While in full screen, pause the movie.
2. Tap the screen just above the fast-forward button, then quickly press and hold the fast-forward button.
The first tap hides the playback controls, the second tap and hold executes the action.
Works well for slow motion forward, not too well for slow motion backwards, works for the scrubbing bar with practice.
Cheers from a a Repulican.
My earlier post needs updating since iOS 5 - the technique mentioned no longer works with online movies. Offline, I find it still works in GoodReader.
Cheers.
unfortunately that does not seem to work with the player which is used for received videos (through iMessage or Whatsapp) or self taken videos. it would be handy there as i record sport sequences quite often. is there any app for that?
